I have sworn off the razor and replaced it with a Conair beard trimmer, a piece of equipment I am quite happy with. When I was shaving, I thought the Mach 3 did the best job. Yeah, I thought the built-in vibrator was a jive gimmick until I tried it and got a closer, faster shave. Straight razors are beautiful tools, and I think every man should have a barber give him a shave with one once in his life, but I would no more use a straight razor than I would use a vintage dial telephone. Of course, if you’re retired with time weighing on your shoulders and you enjoy looking in the mirror, then learning to shave the ancient way may be diverting. I’d rather spend the extra time reading, but to each his own.
